Artistic Breath in the South

Until June 2026, a rich cultural program winds through the territory, offering residents and visitors a fresh perspective on towns and villages. Fifty performances and installations by twelve outstanding companies unfold in streets, parks, and gardens, transforming these spaces into true artistic journeys. Accessible to all, the Metropolitan Artistic Trail offers workshops, performances, and encounters, encouraging exchange and discovery of the territory from a new angle.

Led by the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, this initiative, open to everyone, illustrates the vitality of a region where culture permeates daily life. Music, dance, theatre, circus, and visual arts blend together, offering a different way to experience art. From town to town, creativity becomes a connecting thread, weaving links between residents, artists, and landscapes, turning each location into a genuine artistic voyage.

Extrapole: the evolving, traveling monumental installation

Within this dynamic, the Polaris Art Center in Istres organizes Extrapole, a visual arts journey interacting with public spaces. From October to December, Madrid-based artist Alicia Martín shapes a gigantic Möbius ribbon made of thousands of books. This monumental installation travels from Vitrolles to Istres, from Aubagne to Port-de-Bouc. Each stage transforms the space and invites the public to witness the creation live, meet the artist, and participate in educational workshops, making contemporary art a collective and sensory experience.

Through these artistic trails, culture becomes an invitation to wander and be surprised. It connects the communes, highlights local resources, and gives everyone the opportunity to discover the artistic richness of the territory. By reinventing the link between art, territory, and inhabitants, the metropolitan artistic trails make Provence a living space where creativity is shared.
