Les Plumes d’Or du Vin et de la Gastronomie Paris

On May 19, the most demanding gourmets met in the majestic Pavillon Vendôme in Paris to celebrate the first edition of the Plumes d’Or du Vin et de la Gastronomie awards. Created by two hedonists, Paul Amsellem form the Domaine Georges Vernay and Antoine Borgey of Nabu and supported by David Sinapian, President of Grandes Tables du Monde, they wanted to pay tribute to French gastronomy. “We want it to become an annual gastronomy and wine event that excites the taste buds and that everyone can enjoy”, explains Paul Amsellem.

An evening, hosted by the journalist Patrick Chêne that would never have existed without the support of its high level sponsors: Air France, Lalique, Seguin Moreau, Diam’s, Hôtel Le Bristol Paris, www.ventealapropriete.com, Constance Le Prince Maurice in Mauritius.

Among the proud winners were French journalist Michel Bettane (Bettane & Desseauve) and his foreign counterpart Jancis Robinson (Financial Time) in the wine category. In the food category, prizes went to Thibaut Denancher (Le Point) and Nicholas Lander (Freelance and Financial Times). The spotlight was also put on Gérard Jugnot, elected personality of the year for his work to promote wine and food.

This tribute to French gastronomy could not take place without a tasting opportunity and 450 guests had the chance to savor a magnificent meal cooked by the eight hands of four Michelin-starred chefs: Arnaud Lallement (L’assiette Champenoise, Tinqueux, France, 3 Michelin stars), Sang Hoon Degeimbre (L’Air du Temps, Éghezée, Belgique, 2 Michelin stars), Paul Pairet (UltraViolet, Mr. and Mrs. Bund, Shanghai), and Anne-Sophie Pic (Maison Pic, Valence, France, 3 Michelin stars). A great time was had by all!

Not forgetting that great food needs great wine, the guests also had the opportunity to taste a selection of fine wines and champagnes including Champagne Krug, Château Palmer, Château Beaucastel, Château Clos Fourtet, Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné and many others.

Leaving everyone looking forward to the 2nd edition of the Plumes du Vin et de la Gastronomie!
