Summer festivities, musical interludes

Provence in summer unfolds to the rhythm of festivals and artistic encounters that combine cultural excellence with Mediterranean conviviality. Contemporary music, opera, jazz and classical piano come together in a program where every venue becomes a stage and every evening an experience.

From 11 to 13 June 2026, Marsatac takes over Parc Borély in Marseille. A flagship urban festival in southern France, it brings together international headliners, emerging artists and local collectives across three stages.

In Aix-en-Provence, from 2 to 21 July 2026, the Festival d’Art Lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence sets the entire city abuzz. Voices resonate through theatres, historic courtyards and gardens, carrying music into the lively streets. The festival supports high-level artistic creation while also promoting initiatives that foster wider engagement with opera.

On 9, 10 and 11 July 2026, the Zik Zac transforms the Théâtre de verdure du Jas de Bouffan into an open, free-access music venue. Renowned for the eclecticism of its programming, it brings together emerging talents and leading figures from the French and international music scenes in the gentle warmth of summer.

Finally, from 16 July to 16 August 2026, the Festival International de piano de La Roque-d’Anthéron continues to extend its influence while cultivating a distinctly contemporary vision, staging concerts beneath the plane trees of the Parc de Florans. This edition once again embodies the threefold commitment it has upheld for more than forty years: artistic excellence, curiosity and sharing.

From an urban park to a sunlit grove of plane trees, these festivals trace a true musical journey across the region, where each evening becomes a destination. Together, they form the soundtrack of summer and play a vital role in its cultural radiance.
